To keep them looking like new, use undiluted "Simple Green" on a clean cloth to rub out any smudges in the white rubber. Then, just throw the shoes (but not the laces) in the wash. Wash the laces by hand, and if they're white, bleach them. Personally, I keep several extra pairs of laces, so I can wait until I have a good handful, then wash them all at once.
